This international floristic competition was held in Havířov, Czech Republic for the first time. 18 participants from 18 countries demonstrated their skills, art and creativity. The event was held from 31 August to 5 September 2011.
The best florists competed in 6 disciplines:
Symphony in Blooms – flower decoration inspired by the work of Antonín Dvořák
The Youngest City – a table decoration for welcome in Havířov
Bridal bouquet – a bridals bouquet in the colours of the EUROPA CUP 2011 logo
From Coal to Bloom – jointed arrangement of potted plants
Hat for Eliza Doolittle – hat decoration for the main character of My Fair Lady
Surprise – a secret work, specified only at the very beginning of the discipline – a decorative present bouquet
The only Czech representative was Jaromír Kokeš, who scored the 8. position with 450.7 points, separated from the winner position by 33.4 points. In the Surprise discipline, he took the beautiful 2nd position and in disciplines Bridal bouquet and From Coal to Bloom on 5th positions. His works are available in the Vaňkovka Gallery from 2 to 16 October.
Jaromír Kokeš
Jaromír Kokeš, the only Czech Representative of the Czech Republic at the European Championship of Professionals in Floristics EUROPA CUP 2011, is a multiple Czech Republic Champion in Floristics and an owner of the AMMI florist studio in Brno. He was nominated for the European Championship of Professionals by his victory in the Czech Competition Děčínská kotva (The Děčín Anchor) in 2010. Jaromír Kokeš´s favourite flower is Ammi maius, that is why he chose the Ammi appearance in a stylized form to be the logo of his studio. See www.studioammi.cz for more information.

The city of flowers and beautiful trees and a specific architectural style. The city with the highest population density in the Czech Republic emphasizes mainly environmental quality and abundant public greenery.
During the EC, the city provided promotion, competition venue, accommodation, catering, logistics and accompanying cultural programme.
Union of the Flower Growers and Florists of the Czech Republic
A professional association of major flower growers, florists, flower and florist material merchants and other people interested in this field.
During the EC, the Union provided description of the competition disciplines and terms and conditions, supply of flowers as well as other material needed at the competition.
International Florist Organization
International Florist organization FLORINT is an organization associating 20 national florist organizations. Its goal is to form and strengthen co-operation among the unions on the European level.
It is the EC competition promulgator, established general terms and conditions of the competition, provided selection of contestants, technical committee and jury.
